Today, I will be sharing the most efficient way to use Interchao. First of all, I will briefly explain what Interchao is.

What is Interchao?

Interchao is a journal entry language exchange application. You can have a native speaker of the language you want to learn check your writing for you. In return, be sure to check other people’s second language entries. Upon installation, you will have 100 points (10 days worth of journal entries), so you can start right away.

Without further delay, let me share the most efficient way to use Interchao.

Regarding the contents of your writing

Some recommended themes for journal entries are, “Today I did”, “Today I felt like”, and “Tomorrow I will”.

It must be remembered that your goal is of course, “To be able to speak a foreign language”. Please keep in mind things you can use in daily conversation.

It is best that you write about things that you would use in normal conversations. It’s just like writing in a journal, isn’t it?

You won’t be writing about the same themes day after day! ! If that happens, themes like, “The movie I watched today”, “A friend I am close to” etc. or anything else relevant to you are topics you can try writing about.

First, write in your native language

Try writing a journal entry in your native language first. When you begin writing in the language you are studying, you can only write with the vocabulary you already know. However, you will not be able to increase the vocabulary you know by doing this.

Actually writing

Try re-writing what you have written in your native language in your target language. Actually, you should notice something when you write… I can’t write well at all!!!!

For example: Let’s say you wanted to write about the topic, “When I saw my friend from high school for the first time in 2 years. But you don’t know how do you say “..for the first time in 2 years”. What will you do? This will probably happen to you.

When that happens, just try to look it up. Once you completely understand the unknown grammar and vocabulary, you can compose your entry.

Even if what you found turns out to be incorrect or unnatural, you can have a native speaker check your writing for you. However, even if a native speaker has checked it for you, I still don’t recommend you repeat it on a whim. Make sure you look it up for yourself and fully understand it. This will be extremely helpful.

Interchao requires 10 points for every 300 characters written. Less than 300 characters are fine to start. Even that will be tiring.

For those who don’t like typing on a smartphone, you can use your PC instead. Conveniently, Interchao also has a Web version.

Waiting for corrections

It takes on average 24 hours to receive corrections. While you’re waiting, begin writing your next journal entry. We recommend writing one entry per day.

Take a look at the corrections, and make a clean copy

Once corrections arrive, be sure to read the feedback carefully. Then, using that as a base, try to write a clean copy that is free of errors.

Reading aloud

Try reading the entry you’ve written aloud 10 times. Why you might ask? Because (your goal is to be able to speak).

When reading aloud, you must speak with correct pronunciation as you read. Interchao has a feature that allows you to listen to the speech. First, try to listen carefully. Then, read out loud.

Recording

It is also important to try listening to yourself. Interchao also has a voice recording feature. Listen to your own voice, and then focus on practicing troublesome areas.

Of course, you can’t expect to have perfect pronunciation immediately, so read out loud 10 times. Listen to your own voice once. We strongly recommend you do this.

Lastly, be sure to save your voice recording. Good pronunciation is difficult, so it might be embarrassing. Other people don’t have any way to listen to your recordings, so please don’t worry.

After 3 months, when you listen to your old recordings, you might think, “My pronunciation was awful back then.” — This is proof that you have improved.

Sharing with Social Networking

Because this is a mutual learning application, it will continue to grow as the number of users increases. Please, share your journal entries and spread the word about this application.

(Become able to speak a new language!) )You can motivate yourself by sharing your accomplishments with the people around you via Social Networking.

Lastly

So far there is 1 set. Studying a language is really difficult. However, if you do it every day then you are sure to get better.

And yes, continuing to write a journal is also extremely difficult. However, if you really want to see changes, do it every day.

At least twice a week for busy working people. Try to set your own rules! Do it when you have time! But then, some people don’t do it. To learn a new language it is crucial that you are committed. Of course, Interchao is here to support you with your studies.

But I want this kind of function! This is difficult to use! If these problems happen, by all means, please contact us.
